JUVENTUS PREPARES FORMAL OFFER TO SNATCH LEWANDOWSKI FROM BARCELONA THIS SUMMER WINDOW
With his Barcelona contract expiring, Lewandowski weighs Juventus vs MLS. Discover the full details behind his career-defining choice.
Robert Lewandowski is at a crossroads. He has to make a choice soon: stick with FC Barcelona and take their renewal offer, or head somewhere new: Italy’s Serie A, MLS in the States, or maybe even Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona put a one-year deal on the table, though with less money and a smaller role in the squad. Some reports say that’s not true, but that’s the gist people are getting.
Juventus are stepping in now. According to Tuttosport, they’re working to tempt Lewandowski to join them this summer. His agent, Pini Zahavi, plans to meet Juventus in the next few days to hear what they’re offering.
Apparently, Juventus is ready to pay him €6 million a year, plus bonuses. They see him as their main striker under Luciano Spalletti, so not just a benchwarmer. Lewandowski would have a clear shot to lead the attack.
He’d like to stay in Barcelona, but cutting his salary in half and having it depend on performance bonuses? That’s a tough pill to swallow. Plus, he’d have to accept that Hansi Flick doesn’t see him as essential anymore.
Barcelona’s offer is the final one. Lewandowski knows they won’t budge because the club wants to free up funds for summer signings. If he leaves, they’ll have more flexibility to bring in new talent.
Money’s never been a problem for him; he’s had big offers from Saudi Arabia for a while, but hasn’t shown much interest. Chicago Fire FC in MLS is offering him a deal worth €20 million a year until 2028, and they’re ready to make him their star. Financially, these are tempting, but honestly, Lewandowski still wants to play at the highest level in Europe.
Juventus thinks they can give him what he’s looking for sport-wise, and even though their offer isn’t as rich as the others, it beats Barcelona’s both in pay and in how they’d use him. The next few weeks will decide where Lewandowski goes, and maybe even what kind of ending he’ll have to his storied career.
ANTONIO CONTE AND MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI EMERGE AS TOP CONTENDERS FOR ITALY POST
Italy is searching for a new coach after the national team vacancy. With FIGC elections on June 22, we analyse the frontrunners to lead.
Massimiliano Allegri isn’t out of the running to become Italy’s next head coach just yet, according to some reports.
With two months left until June 22nd, when the FIGC federal elections will decide the new face of Italian football leadership, the spotlight remains on Giancarlo Abete and Giovanni Malagò, both hoping to step into the role after Gabriele Gravina's resignation.
While the election looms, the position of Italy's national team coach is still up in the air. Gennaro Gattuso has been replaced on an interim basis by Silvio Baldini, the current coach of the Italian Under-21 side, who will oversee the upcoming friendlies against Greece and Luxembourg in June.
Expect this version of Italy to be quite experimental, featuring many younger players. According to Calciomercato.com, three main contenders stand out for the permanent position: Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, and Roberto Mancini.
Conte has openly expressed interest in returning to the national team post, having held the job before. His potential departure from Napoli doesn’t seem to raise major concerns, especially since it could relieve club president Aurelio De Laurentiis from a substantial wage bill and allow him to explore other options. This is a big factor putting Conte in a strong position.
Allegri hasn’t ruled himself out either, but has pointed out that everything depends largely on who takes charge of the federation. The Livorno-born coach is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of leading Italy again, but also aims to continue his second stint at AC Milan.
Discussions are ongoing about next season, particularly with Milan eyeing a return to the Champions League. This means Allegri’s chances might not look as bright right now, but given the regard Malagò has for him, it’s premature to dismiss him completely.
Roberto Mancini is also interested in returning to the national team after coaching stints in Saudi Arabia and Qatar’s Al Sadd. He’s waiting for the upcoming federal elections to set the stage for Italy’s future direction.
Meanwhile, a few other names deserve mention: Simone Inzaghi, currently at Al-Hilal but keen to come back to a significant role in Italy, and Stefano Pioli, who is a free agent at the moment. And of course, while it may be more of a wishlist, some eyes remain on high-profile figures like Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti.
AS ROMA SUBMITS SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL TERMS OFFER FOR OSASUNA STAR VICTOR MUNOZ
AS Roma have made an offer to Victor Munoz. Discover the Real Madrid buyback clause and the Barcelona return rumours for the star.
Victor Munoz's future is set to spark conversation in Spain this summer, with the Osasuna winger making quite an impression in his first season in La Liga. At 22, he debuted for La Roja last month and even scored in his first match, showcasing notable talent at El Sadar.
There’s buzz around his former club, Barcelona, showing interest, but Real Madrid might also try to bring him back to the Bernabeu. They hold a 50% sell-on stake and a buyback option on Munoz, who currently has a €40 million release clause at Osasuna. Word is they would likely block any transfer to Barcelona.
Osasuna themselves have already turned down a €25 million bid from Sunderland in January and seem set to face further Premier League offers. Interestingly, Munoz recently switched agents, signing with a firm closely linked to Barcelona, which only adds to speculation about where he might end up.
Now, the Italian side AS Roma has entered the picture. Jose Alvarez from El Chiringuito reports they’ve made an offer to Munoz, focusing on personal terms. Roma appears ready to invest significantly in the speedy winger; there’s talk of a possible €35 million price tag. Despite the interest, Munoz isn’t rushing to decide on his next move.
Alvarez also mentions Munoz’s openness to returning to Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Being a Barcelona native, with family still in the city and some relatives working at the Ciutat Esportiva training complex, it’s a tempting prospect for him. However, Real Madrid’s likely interference remains a hurdle. Whenever Osasuna receives offers for Munoz, they must notify Real Madrid, who have 48 hours to respond with a counteroffer.
